Decree granting extra exam sessions for undergraduates and postgraduates
President Bashar al-Assad issued on Thursday Decree no. 253 for 2017 granting one additional examination session for undergraduates who failed in any subject in the 2016-2017 academic year.
The decree also grants an additional academic year to the students of the same grade who exhausted all opportunities to take exams from inside or outside the university.The decree granted an additional examination session and academic year for the students of qualification and specialization studies who failed exams in the 2016-2017 academic year.
The decree also covers Master’s students who failed exams or exhausted all opportunities to take exams during the 2016-2017 year, as they will be granted one extra examination session and one extra academic year.
Also the decree grants the student who had a secondary school from 2011 to 2016 and didn’t register in the university the right to register according to the corresponding competence of the degrees in the year of obtaining the certificate.
The decree also granted a secondary student who has offered a comparison between 2011 and 2016 and accepted in the competence and not registered, the right to register in this specialism, and does not calculate the period from the date of acceptance until the date of registration of his university life.
The decree considered the periods of student break during the period 2011/2017 for the study, while submitting for some examinations and not providing for others, periods of suspension of registration, and isn’t calculated from the suspension periods specified in the executive regulations of the Universities Law.
