President al-Assad receives a Russian delegation headed by Alexander Lavrentiev, special envoy of President Vladimir Putin

During the meeting, they discussed joint efforts and bilateral cooperation between Syria and the Russian Federation on the issue of the return of Syrian refugees who were forced by terrorist crimes to leave their country. The two sides affirmed their satisfaction with the progress that is taking place in this field as a result of joint efforts, noting the joint meeting to follow up on the work of the international conference on the return of refugees.  And the Syrian IDPs held in Damascus.

President al-Assad affirmed that Syria is working vigorously and continuously for the return of refugees, whether by rehabilitating the infrastructure destroyed by terrorism and restoring security and stability to the liberated areas, or by accelerating the reconciliation process to ensure the safe return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons to their villages and towns.His Excellency thanked the Russian leadership for the humanitarian and medical aid and doses of the Cor*ona virus vaccine that were recently provided to Syria, praising at the same time the great assistance provided by the Russian Federation to the Syrian people in various fields, including its efforts to help return Syrian refugees to their land.

Lavrentiev expressed his confidence that the Syrian and Russian sides will reach tangible results in this context due to the effective steps and measures taken by the Syrian government to provide the appropriate conditions and suitable ground for the return of Syrian refugees, indicating his country’s readiness to continue working with Syria to overcome the difficulties and obstacles that could impede this process.
